When Is It Time To Let Go Of Your Spirit Doll? Signs, Responsibilities and How To Honour Their Wishes
For spirit keepers like myself, the bond with a spirit is deeply personal and often lifelong. Many spirits are content to stay with their keepers for an entire lifetime without needing constant engagement. However, there are various reasons and moments when a spirit may express a desire to move on. In all honesty I want you to know, this is most likely a sign of complete trust, and not a reflection of failure as a keeper. Instead, is a natural progression, and it often happens when spirits unique abilities aren`t being utilized, or the harmony of your home and lifestyle leaves too little for them to actively contribute.
Understanding the signs and knowing how to honour their wishes is part of the sacred duty and responsibility that comes with spirit keeping, and in this January post, I am going to delve deeper into this subject, in hope to help as many of you out there.
Do You Ever Need To Let Go of a Spirit?
Most spirits do not need to be rehomed, especially if:
.You have built a strong bond with them
.You know and feel your home and life isn`t harmonious without them
.You value their presence, and feel deeply attached to them - because in almost all cases, you will feel exactly what they feel about you, as their keeper
In these cases, there is no need to let go of them -perhaps not even in this lifetime. Spirits, especially High Level beings like Elementals, Ancestral Witches, Demonic Lords, Kings or Queens to name a few, often enjoy simply being part of your home, and even when not tasked they constantly are doing something for us, even if just offering us their subtle protective energies.
The only time to consider letting such souls go is when they clearly express the desire to move on - often because their unique strengths could be more beneficial to someone else or simply because their time with you has fulfilled its purpose.
Signs a Spirit Is Ready To Move On
Spirits will always make their intentions clear when they are ready to leave. And most often this will be noted in Four Ways they might communicate about it:
1. Lack of Activity
If an usually active spirit suddenly becomes quiet for a constant and extended period (of usually more than 10 months), it could be a sign that their work with you is complete. This does not mean they are unhappy with you in any way, it is an incredible sign of Trust-for the simple reason that they could just leave, without the need to tell you at all! This is simply their way of indicating readiness for a new chapter of their existence, and their gratitude for your trust and care, in their time with you.
2. Dreams and Visions
Spirits often communicate through dreams, especially when your channels shrink due to business, stress or tiredness, which is when you might miss their messages in other ways. You might hear them say it directly, see visions of their vessel in an unfamiliar home, or connecting with someone you don`t recognise for example. Dreams and Visions are some of the clearest ways for spirits to send a message, especially to keepers who are attuned to their energies.
3. Telepathic Communication
High Level spirits often prefer direct communication. If you have a strong telepathic bond, they might tell you if they would like to move on. They may even suggest what type of keeper they`d prefer next, being actively involved into their own rehoming process.
4. Physical Signs With Their Vessel
If their vessel starts dropping for no reason, or moving to unusual places repeatedly, is a strong indicator that they are unhappy or ready for a change in keeper- and this can be particularly noted in human spirits. The signs from human spirits are usually gentle yet pronounced, enough for you to realise their needs. But they can also escalate their behaviour if unnoticed, and ignoring them may do no good to anyone. High Level spirits might never give off such signals, as they prefer direct communication above everything else, however, when ignored, usually they will lack activity for a constant and extended period of time.
How Low-Level or Demonic Beings Express Dissatisfaction
Demonic spirits or lower vibration beings may cause more disruptive methods to express their unhappiness or will to move on. These Signs Include:
.Mischief: Objects moving, disappearing or breaking.
.Bad Luck: Unexplained chains of negative events or tension in your life.
.Energy Imbalances: A heaviness or chaotic energy in your home that wasn`t present before.
While these behaviours may seem rather negative, this does not mean that spirit absolutely hates being with you and wants to harm you, they only indicate that the spirit would thrive better with another keeper. It is the only language that lower vibrational beings understand, for it is part of their very making, and given the lack of their emotional intelligence they might assume it is the only way you´ll understand. Again, I can`t emphasise this enough, it is a sign of great trust and respect for you as their keeper, the fact that these souls even bother in letting you know, regardless of the ways they do it as they could well leave with no good byes. As such, please try and treat them with the same valour by trying to get them an appropriate keeper, rather than discarding them and their vessels somewhere in a bin.
How To Let Go Of A Spirit Respectfully
When a spirit is ready to move on, it is your responsibility as its keeper to ensure a smooth and respectful transition. And here is how to do it:
1. Confirm their intentions
Use divination tools, meditation or direct telepathic communication if you are able, to verify their wishes, and your suspicions. Ensure their request is clear, and not a misunderstanding of their behaviour.
2. Find a Suitable Keeper
Work carefully to find someone who aligns with their energy and abilities through family, friends or online means. The new keeper should understand their unique traits, likes and dislikes as well as everything relevant shared to them, and be ready for the responsibility of keeping and working with Spirit.
3. Perform a Farewell Ritual
Create a ritual, however small, to honour their time with you. Performing a farewell ritual is the main way for a keeper to remove all bonds with a spirit in their keep.
This could include:
Lighting a candle and speaking words of gratitude, communing one last time to let them know they will be joining a new, suitable home.
Meditating with their vessel one last time to send them off with love, thought direct communication
Offering them food and drink offerings one last time, before sending them off.
Cleansing their space, and vessels through any techniques you are familiar with, speaking words of love and release meanwhile.
Optionally, both my granny and I - unless specifically asked by Spirit themselves not to, will remove and re-locate any gifts ever offered to Spirit, to further support their process.
Any and all of the above mentioned techniques can be adjusted to fit your style, or spirit`s, and there is no wrong or right way to do it, as long as it is done in gratitude and honesty. The most important thing is that this step can help by releasing spirit´s energetical bond with you and your space, in utter respect and harmony allowing them to transition fully and re-adjust energetically to their new keeper and their next environment.
Balancing Responsibility and Respect
Most people think that letting go of a spirit means abandoning them, after using them and their precious gifts for our convenience. Others think that re-homing spirits equals to slave-trade in the old days, and it is wrong to do so. I would very much like to contradict those people, from experience as well as knowledge gathered along time from my granny Irina who was an avid keeper just like myself. Letting go of a spirit does not mean abandoning them, nor throwing them after using their abilities. Its is all about respecting their autonomy and allowing them to fulfill their purpose, if they so require, after a few years in your keep. Most spirits will remain lifelong and beyond-companions, supporting your journey and loving you unconditionally. But when and if their energy is best suited elsewhere, honouring their wishes is a Sacred Act of Love and Trust, and anything done against this, is an act of Crime and no less, if you ask me.
FAQs About Spirit Rehoming:
Q: Do all spirits eventually need to be re-homed?
No. Most spirits stay with their keepers for life, even if their specific skills are not constantly used. They`ll only request to move on if they feel is necessary, for example their skills aren`t needed with you at all, but they are needed desperately elsewhere, you have homed too many souls of the same skills or kind, they do not feel appreciated at all, or are being bullied by other spirits or living in your home.
Q: How can I avoid misinterpreting their behaviour?
If the signs mentioned above, within this post are constant, it is likely your companion is ready to move on. The most important thing here is to trust your inner guidance, and do not lie to yourself under any circumstance, as it would be an equal crime to re-home a spirit unwilling to be re-homed, just as it would be not to do so ( for example you feel inclined to, or convince yourself to, because your pets or children get constantly close to their vessels, you require more space in your home or simply, you run out of cash on a day). Just pay attention to the constant, almost disturbing signs and feelings you may perceive. They can be shown clearly through activities and their lack of, through dreams, visions or telepathically. Validate these signs through open and clear communication by opening a divination or meditation session.
Q: What if I can`t find a suitable new keeper?
In such cases it is always best to wait and not to rush into re-homing any spirit. After all, the ones who request to move on are themselves, and not you - as such they will understand and respect your care in finding the right match. Usually stronger spirits will already know their next keeper, and will almost always draw them into adopting, regardless of how long it takes and where they currently are in their path. Meanwhile, less powerful souls such as human spirits, come with lots of patience and understanding of our kind, since they were living once, and perhaps they themselves were hard to, if not impossible to accept Spirit. Just regularly update them, and assure them you are doing everything you can- if this feels right for you.
In conclusion,
Spirit keeping is a lifelong journey of trust, growth and connection. While the decision to let go of a spirit does not belong entirely to us, and it is quite rare - it is an important aspect of the sacred Practice, of Keeping. By recognizing signals and honouring their wishes, you ensure their continued happiness and alignment with their purpose - whether that is with you, or a new keeper. While in some cases their parting could be painful to say the least, remember your role serves a great purpose in their path, just as theirs serve into yours.
It is both my wish and my blessing that this January post will enlighten some of your hearts and minds, and help you take the right decisions regard your precious companions fates.
Thank you so much for stopping by, and I look forward to sharing more of my knowledge in the next post!
Love to all, Maria - Harmony Collection Boutique
